A-Z Challenge: K

Joyful K day to you all!  It's been a long day so let's just jump right in shall we...

Keeping Mum

I wasn't sure about this at first, I had this Netflix sitting around for about two weeks before I just sat to it. But I am so glad I watched it! Funny, dark, very dark. Also a side of Patrick Swayze that most don't see. I'll bet he had a lot of fun playing so against his own character :)
A family, distant from each other is brought together by a new housekeeper with a bit of a dark side :)
Rowan Atkinson, Kristin Scott Thomas, Maggie Smith, Patrick Swayze

Gloria Goodfellow: You can't just go 'round killing people just because you don't approve of them!
Grace Hawkins: You know, that's what my doctors used to say. It was the one point we could never agree on.

I kept meaning to see this and then when I did I loved it! Inspiring and touching. I almost burst into tears when King George VI talks about the servants treating his brother better because he would be the King. Colin Firth is just wonderful. Helena Bonham Carter is strong and supportive.
It is a little slow, but it's so worth the time :)
King George VI takes lessons to lessen his stammer before he has to give an important radio speech.
Colin Firth, Helena Bonham Carter, Geoffrey Rush

Lionel Logue: Surely a prince's brain knows what its mouth is doing?
King George VI: You're not well acquainted with princes, are you.

An old one, but funny.
A young man kills the eight heirs ahead of him in revenge for the mistreatment of his mother.
Alec Guinness plays all of the heirs. Long before Ed Murphy or Tyler Perry did it :)
Dennis Price, Alec Guinness

Louis Mazzini: I had not forgotten or forgiven the boredom of the sermon of young Henry's funeral, and I decided to promote the Reverend Lord Henry D'Ascoyne to next place on the list.

  1. And I thought I had seen every single one of Patrick Swayze' movies. I have never heard of this one. Thank you for sharing about this.
